Artist: ' Danger Kitty'Album: ' Love Rocket'Genre: ComedyLabel: DiscoverReviewer:Posted: 2/27/2008Review: ' The year was 1983 and Danger Kitty released their hit single 'Love Rocket'. With it came instant fame and fortune. They bought mansions, cars and the finest women's clothing. But by 1984 the fans left, the fortune was gone and the dream was over. Desperate for money, Danger Kitty last performed at the Smuckler bar mitzvah.' Does this sound familiar? The Danger Kitty story was part of a brilliant ad campaign by the Discover Card company back in 2001.
You can view the classic Danger Kitty commercial in all of its hilarious glam glory, but there's more to the story than just that one advertisement. Most people assumed that Danger Kitty wasn't a real band, and rightfully so. The advertisement was clearly mocking the 80's glam rock culture, but Danger Kitty is technically a real band. Any of you who are familiar with the glam parody band 'Metal Skool' (formerly 'Metal Shop') will instantly recognize them as being the same guys from Danger Kitty.Granted, Danger Kitty didn't actually release an album way back in 1983, or any full album for that matter. They did, however, manage to release the 'Love Rocket' single though, and for a brief time you could actually go to the Danger Kitty web site and order a copy of it for FREE - amazingly without even being added to some Discover Card mailing lists or anything. I still have my copy of the 'Love Rocket' single and will always treasure it because they really went all out when you consider that it's just a promotional freebie. The CD is hot pink (naturally) and features a little bit more info on the band, including the names of each member Michael Diamond, Rikki Ratchet, Ginger Roxx, and Blackhead. Absolutely classic. Also included, on the inside of the booklet, are a bunch of Danger Kitty photos of their live performances, working at a hot dog stand after the band broke up, and even a golden toilet (which one of them presumably had installed in their mansion). The song itself is just what you'd expect - a perfect mocking of 80's glam.
The lyrics say it all:' I want you,You want satisfactionBut are you ready for a.Nuclear reaction!?I'm your - Love rocket!Wow!Love rocket! To feel the burn, well. You just have to unlock itI'm your - Love rocket!' It's a perfect spoof that belongs right up there with Spinal Tap, but being part of a credit card commercial, it will obviously never achieve that kind of status. But hey, at least Metal Skool continues to thrive on Sunset Boulevard, and one can only hope that they'll bust out their unsung 'Love Rocket' tune every now 'n then for the fans.As an added treat, I've put up the ' song for you guys to download and enjoy.
Rock out with your cock out, glam fans.Overall rating:(Scored on a 0.5 - 5 pickles rating: 0.5 being the worst and 5 being the best).
Artist: ' Various Artists'Album: ' Nightmare Revisited'Genre: MiscellaneousLabel: Walt Disney RecordsReviewer:Posted: Review: An album released by Disney to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the movie Nightmare Before Christmas, with songs from the original movie covered by modern rock, alternative, and nu-metal artists. Now that you know the formula, I could probably stop right here, and you'd have a pretty good idea of whether this album is for you. But you clicked on a link for a full review, and by God you're getting one.I would go as far as to say that this album is a lot of fun, but it's not for everyone. If you're one of those hardcore Nightmare fans, that still hasn't gotten tired of singing the songs with your friends after 15 years, and couldn't imagine a visit to Disneyland without your Jack Skellington hoodie, I'm not going to bother to recommend this album to you. You probably already illegally downloaded all your favorites tracks from Nightmare Revisited 2 years ago.
And if you haven't, why not?.If you've never seen the movie, don't write this album off too quickly. Besides just being a fun listen by itself, it can be a good crash course in Nightmare mythology, without having to sit and watch the movie. If you've seen the movie, but you aren't usually a fan of Korn or The All-American Rejects, you might be surprised at what you find yourself enjoying. Some tracks, like 'Making Christmas' by Rise Against, sound awkward at first coming from just one vocalist, instead of an ensemble of monsters. At the same time, other tracks like Marilyn Manson's dark nu-metal rendition of 'This Is Halloween' somehow manage to sound more fitting than the original, despite the fact that Manson can't sing worth his own weight in black eyeliner. There's also a few instrumental tracks by slightly more obscure artists, like DeVotchKa, The Yoshida Brothers, and Amiina. These are all either inspired by or remixed from the original score.
They're a fun little addition, especially if you have a thing for eccentric instrumentals. So, for the final word, is it an epic symphonic masterpiece? Does it need to be?
Not Really, it's fan service, and a damn good piece of fan service. This will likely be a hit if you have a lot of 90s kids at your next Halloween party.(.I-Mockery does not condone stealing music. At least, I don't think they do.

It's just a user review! I won't survive in prison!)Overall rating:(Scored on a 0.5 - 5 pickles rating: 0.5 being the worst and 5 being the best). Yeah, I'll pull out the snob card on this one. A few of the songs on this album have incorrect lyrics. I had downloaded this last year sometime and it began to bother me after a few playthroughs. The one that comes to mind at the moment is the Marilyn Manson cover of 'This is Halloween.' The lyric 'Red and Black and spider green' they sing as 'Red and Black and slimy green.'

That's just the one I can pull off the top of my head, but it happens through more than one song. I thought it bespoke an overall lack of quality in the album. I mean if the arrangers didn't care enough to get the lyrics right, well then damn it.Yeah yeah, nitpickish and snobbish, but I love that soundtrack. Hearing the Hot Topic crew cover it full of errors just didn't do enough for me to want to keep it.And yes, the digital audio songs were the best, imo.
