The final song of the season and series is saved for the final episode, so William Anderson’s score gets another 44 full minutes to shine. And as you might expect with the stakes so high, this episode’s score is full of high-energy action, with plenty of slower, more emotional pieces mixed in. Between this and the final episode, numerous iconic themes from the show are brought back for one final hurrah, including the My Little Pony brand motif. But inbetween those returning cues, there’s an insane about of wonderful and even beautiful score written just for this episode, and it’s well worth it to listen to every single trackThe two-parter, and penultimate episode, ends the same way the Season 1 finale did-with the group of friends having some donuts at Donut Joe's place in Canterlot. This scene is accompanied by some absolutely lovely glockenspiel and guitar score. This scene, and the music accompanying it here, was a great way to conclude the episode and season, and set us up for the final episode to come.FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST. The final song of the series.
'The Magic of Friendship Grows' and it's instrumental and vocal only versions are up to listen & download. The final episode of the final season ends, fittingly, with one last song with the entire main cast. It’s a beautiful sendoff to the series, and the final part continues to make me tear up.We begin simple and subdued, with just Twilight’s vocals and acoustic guitar.
It’s a start that is reminiscent of “Embrace the Magic” from. “Legend of Everfree.” As the first verse continues, percussion, piano, and bass is added, as the energy picks up. This leads to the first chorus, with Twilight gaining some backing vocals of herself, and some lovely arpeggios played on strings and piano. Some brass is subtly added in the background as well. The next verse, this time sung by Pinkie and Rainbow Dash. Mandolin is added into the mix, along with a little synth for Pinkie, a wonderful callback to her earliest songs back in Season 1.
For Dash’s part, electric guitar is added, again harkening back to her main instrumentation. This leads us to the next chorus, this time with the whole cast joining in. The instrumentation is much more filled out this time, with tons of counter melodies, and of course beautiful harmonies in the vocals. This leads us to the final verses, sung by Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. It’s hard to hear in the full mix, especially behind the brass hits, but listen to the instrumental and you’ll hear banjo added to the instrumentation for Applejack, and for Rarity some glockenspiel is added to match her style of score. Finally, we reach Fluttershy.
Game Pony Friendship
For her character, the orchestra pulls back, and is replaced by a much more simple and quiet instrumentation, featuring mainly acoustic guitar again, with a simple cello accompanying. From there, we build the instrumentation back up to the final chorus. Here the full chorus joins in, for one huge, beautiful final rendition. Tons of vocal harmonies and counter melodies ensue, led clearly by the Mane 6’s voices. Listen closely, and you’ll hear the My Little Pony motif being played on a synth instrument during this scene, as the Mane 6 reveal all of the main and side characters from the show. It’s a beautiful little touch to this scene. The song continues to build up to Twilight’s final lines, where it pulls back again. The instrumentation simplifies to just some simple woodwinds, with one final hit played by them, a guitar, with one final rise of the theme on strings and brass.
The series ends on the final chord of the theme on acoustic guitar and strings, with a little music box flourish as the book closes. This was the perfect way to send the series off. Thank you Daniel and Caleb.FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST. 15 tracks of beautiful score from the new MLP episode 'The Big Mac Question' are now available to listen & download! In the final episode before the series finale, Big Mac and Sugar Belle prepare to pop the big question to each other, receiving plenty of “help” from their friends. This is a beautiful and fun episode with some beautiful score to match. Overall I don’t have a ton to say about it here, but have a lot to say about some of the tracks in more detail. Offers many returning character and location leitmotifs, including those for Sugar Belle and Mrs. Cake, and features some absolutely wonderful new and returning score in the final act, which is emotional in the context.
This was certainly one of those times where the music made me tear up a little bit. Embedded below is the big, final, emotional scene of the episode, the marriage of Sugar Belle and Big Mac.This episode features numerous continuity moments with 'The Perfect Pear' throughout, and has already featured quite a few returning cues from that episode. This scene tops off those callbacks with Sugar Belle and Big Mac's wedding taking place at the same location as Big Mac's parents', and right in front of their Apple and Pear trees. If that wasn't already emotional enough, William Anderson really amps up the emotion by reprising a fifth piece of score from that episode, utilizing the same music from Pear Butter and Bright Mac's wedding. You can hear it in the track 'A Pear Apple Wedding.' Here it features the arpeggios played on banjo for Big Mac, instead of the piano of the original. The reuse of many pieces of score for 'The Perfect Pear' up to this point has already been wonderful, and capping off the episode with this piece is beautiful. I certainly teared up a little at this scene, and that was certainly helped by this music choice.Just one more week left!:(FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST. 9 tracks of score from 'Daring Doubt' are now available on YouTube, in addition to the downloads!Daring Do is back for one final hurrah, but someone has written an expose novel, putting her reputation in jeopardy. As you might expect with an episode revolving around the character, this week’s episode was filled with numerous returning cues from her previous adventures.

A whopping 16 tracks from this weekend's new MLP episode 'Dragon Dropped' are now up and available! This episode is jam-packed with score, leading to a whopping 16 tracks. Throughout we have plenty of your normal score for Rarity, featuring much harpsichord, and also some extremely melodramatic pieces. The episode also features two montages, continuing the trend of these extended musical selections this season. Here is certainly the standout track from the episode, from the.
First montage scene as Rarity remembers how helpful Spike was, and struggles without him. This is a really fun track, which features a repeating motif on electric piano throughout most of the piece, backed with chords on organ, and flourishes of electric guitar and strings. After two passes of the main melody, we transition over to a short bridge. The repeating piano motif is traded out for a new melody fitting played on what sounds like a synth harpsichord. After the bridge, the main motif returns, this time played on piano, still backed by the organ and electric guitar.
The percussion drops out, with just the high hat playing, pulling back the songs energy before we enter the final run of the song, with the full instrumentation returning.Running at 1.5 minutes, this is certainly one of the longer montage sequences/tracks we've had in recent memory. It's always nice when William Anderson has a little more time in a sequence to really flesh out a track to its full potential. This one fits well with the scene, and matches the mood of this part of the episode nicely.FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST. 13 tracks of score from 'She Talks to Angel' are now available!Gotta get a body switch episode in before the end of the series! Being a Fluttershy episode, it’s filled with her leitmotifs and woodwin. The episode also features the return of one of my favorite cues from Season 7’s “Celestial Advice.”. 15 tracks of score from 'The Summer Sun Setback' are now available to listen & download!Retuning to the season arc, the trio of villains is back, and is attempted to infiltrate Canterlot Castle to steal a book with instructions on how to utilize Grogar’s bell. Nt episode, packing it to the brim with wonderful and interesting score. Many new cues, including another montage piece, are featured in the episode. In addition, we hear numerous returning cues throughout the episode, from Grogar’s leitmotif, to the series classic “Magic of Friendship” theme. In the embedded track, Twilight announces the discontinuation of the Summer Sun Celebration, and start of a new festival, one to celebrate the two Princess sisters. The track begins right away with one of the most classic leitmotifs of the series: The Summer Sun Celebration fanfare. This was heard for the first time all the way back in Season 1, and has been utilized when the Celebration has returned throughout the series, including Season 4's 'Princess Twilight Sparkle.' It certainly is a treat to hear it one final time before the series ends. This transitions into a formal march piece (just with no percussion), as Princess Twilight Sparkle speaks.Next, William Anderson brings back another cue.
This piece of score was first used back in Season 4's premiere in the track 'Saving Twilight & The Tree.' It was also used in that season's finale, and in the season 6 finale as well. It's grand, happy sound really adds a huge punch to the emotion of this scene.FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST. 12 tracks of score from 'A Trivial Pursuit' are now available to listen & download! It wouldn’t be the final season without one final Twilight Lesson Zero moment! This time, he’s opened a laugh factory to produce gags and joke gifts, but has wound up losing his own laugh in the process. This hilarious episode, while not a musical like the previous, still features a fantastic, and long, polka song sung by Chees. E, and filled with plenty of accordion. 'The Last Laugh' song/instrumental/vocals only is now up to listen and download! He’s back! Cheese Sandwich, a.k.a.
Weird-Al Yankovic returns for one more episode before the show’s conclusion. After having lost his laugh for most of the episode, this song encompasses him finding it again, and realizing he needed to make people laugh in person to get enjoyment.“The Last Laugh” is for all purposes a polka song, filled with plenty of accordion throughout, as you would expect. For something being performed by Weird-Al. However, it does feature a few fantastic, and sometimes hilarious, genre changes as we progress through.
The song begins sounding like it’s going to be a more emotional ballad, with a soft piano and strings backing Cheese’s vocals. However, after the first laugh, we quickly enter polka mode. The tempo increases, and the strings and piano are traded in for accordion, banjo, clarinet, and a bouncy tuba keeping the beat—your quintessential polka instrumentation. As we enter the second verse, muted trumpet is added into the instrumentation, adding a little more punch to some of the flourishes. The brass joins the party for the second chorus, keeping the energy buildup going as the song progresses. After the second chorus, we enter a fitting accordion solo.
Shredded Cheese! This leads us to another run through the chorus. The percussion is now in full force. But now we run up against a hilarious genre change wall. Suddenly the polka is gone, and we enter a very 80s sounding, slow and dramatic pop song. The tempo drops, and the instrumentation changes to 80s synth, strings, and hilarious enough still some accordion. Halfway through, a fun electric guitar riff enters. Cheese’s vocals go completely over-the-top, complete with a ton of vocal reverb.
Pinkie adds in some hilarious backing vocals in this section. Mixed with the visuals, this part is so wonderfully hysterical. After a brief exchange with Sans, who finally laughs at one of Cheese’s jokes, we reenter the polka chorus one final time, adding in a chorus for the final part, ending the song on with high energy.FULL EPISODE PLAYLIST.
